Looking to start a tree?

Before going online, try to obtain as much information about your family as possible from your relatives. Maybe an aunt, cousin, or grandparent has a tree already started. If not, at least they can share names, dates, documents, pictures, and stories of past relatives. I find that most family members are willing to share what they know.

Try to avoid copying from other trees. Use them as a guideline. The information that the other tree has may not be accurate. ALWAYS verify your information with documents and sources. If you're not sure how to do this contact us and we will help you! Did you know that family Bibles can also be a good source of genealogical information? They are excellent places to start building your family tree as they may contain information on unknown or missing ancestors, fill in gaps on dates, and/or provide new information, such as locations, church names, or maiden names.
